Angry DPF/Diesel Particulate Filter Replacement

Hello,

My wife's C30 has recently gone into limp mode and threw up some DPF codes when the diagnostics were run.

Having being quote £750 to replace the filter, I'm going to do it myself :@

Has anyone done it before and can advise which DPF is the correct one?

I'm getting ECP results for three different DPFs: DPF Front (euro 4 D4), DPF E9-103R, DPF euro 5? I'm guessing it's identifiable from my VIN? the car is a C30 1.6d R-design 58 plate.

Since the engine is the same as the ford 1.6tdci I'm going to use a guide from the ford forums - http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums...with-pictures/ (sorry to post a link to another forum but it's the best guide I could find)

Is the Volvo procedure similar, are any special tools needed?

appreciate the help!

Sam

I think it's the 8th digit of your VIN that will identify Euro IV or V. If your 8th digit is a 4 it's Euro IV or if it's a 5 or an E it's Euro V.

Thanks Iainmd, I've found a suitable euro 4 Dpf from cats4u for £160. A lot cheaper than expected.

For anyone contemplating getting someone to do it instead of trying it themselves, don't - do it yourself as its a piece of p***. The ford guide above, is exactly the same as the Volvo fit, the hardest part is the heat shield.
