Default How long for a repair?

I have been waiting 2 weeks and 2 days since returning my car to the dealer for a parking sensor fault to be rectified and a faulty diff to be replaced. is that excessive - it seems so to me. They did offer for me to pick the car up and use it with no prop shaft until the parts arrived but I declined. How long should it take for a diff to be sourced and fitted?

Well I got the car back today, I am actually very pleased with the work PWCars have done despite the wait. it runs very well and after a hurried 60 mile drive home 70% motorway 30% winding A roads it returned a display average of 44 mpg. almost twice what a Land Cruiser 4.2 will do on that kind of driving so I may well keep the Volvo for a while. They seem to have been thorough, the car is also sparkling clean and it was a no quibble, no argument warranty repair. It is easy to be grumpy when you are waiting and wondering.

44mpg. I only ever reached the 40mpg on 500 mile constant french motorway trip, admitedly it was loaded and constant 80 mph. Whats your secret?
And what was the problem in the end.

I must admit I was bowled over myself, I did let it build momentum rather than flooring it, I made use of any downhill gradients and coasted up hills just maintaing speed. I was solo and the tank was below 1/4 so not carrying much weight. Dunno maybe the display is out of synch, i will do a brim fill today but will be on short journeys and rural roads all week, then towing a trailer to Cornwall then on to N Spain on Friday so it wil be a while before i do any similar light trips.

All of the parking sensors have been replaced, the diagnostics showed the unit was faulty so I assume that has been done. The diff and rear driveshafts are new. It is a peaceful lovely car to drive now I can see why people like them at last :-)

For info the sound was several hummy resonant whines, I guess similar to the wheel bearing noise as several mechanics at that garage and elsewhere suspected bearings. It was not quiet even pulling away but really kicked in about 45 to start with then as the miles racked up it started earlier about 30. It got worse when coasting and until the last 100 miles or so it disappeared above 65. Some of the noise sounded like it was coming from the rear but I was beginning to worry about the transmission as it also appeared to be pretty much below the stick as well. I guess the prop shaft was picking up vibrations from the diff and resonating or maybe it was traveling through underpanels, once something is humming all sorts of bits can pick up the harmonics and join in.
