I have to walk away when the Volvo auctions start as its too tempting to bid on such cheap cars. Tis the same with BMW UK group, cars going for considerably less than dealers are charging for them. Now if only Audi allowed the public to bid on there cars at auction, they keep the residuals of there cars high by allowing only invite only dealers and special customers to bid at the auctions. I havent been able to get into one and save myself the dealer markups on an audi yet. |

from what I hear all Stratstones are going...5 left at the moment but the whole group is being replaced.
It is unlikely volvo stock will go to auction. That is usually reserved for excess stock from manufacturers who dont build to order (Vauxhall, Ford, Peugeot etc). The stock will be needed by the new dealers However, if it did happen....oooohh wow, time to get some bargains!!!!!!! This wouldnt be new brand new cars as the only ones like that would be demonstrators and staff cars. The used car vehicles may go to auction but that doesnt affect volvo UK. I think the new dealers would purchase the demonstrators from Stratstone. However, again Volvo UK wouldnt loose out here either as they have already earned from those demonstrator when Stratstone bought them (albeit at a slight discount). |

Yes I didnt mean new unregistered cars, but definatley anything thats registered could possibly end up at auction. Most of the stuff i looked at from volvo uk was under 6 months old and stupidly cheap.

Major thanks to you both . Looks like the answer to all my problems. I'll pop down this evening on the way from work (Trafford Park, I live in Monton as well).

Popped in the way back from work and spoke with Howard. I'll be booking the barge in for service (4 years, 60k miles) just before Christmas. £150-160 compared to £376 which Stratstone, Bury quoted me this time last year.
I'll post again separately so others can see without hunting about too much.

Ive heard that Stratstone will soon be no longer. A friend told me that his dad went to look at a jag, and walked away with a dealer offer 10K off the screen price. His brother tried an Audi dealer and also was offered a cheaper price. Seems that they are trying to clear all stock.
Greed got the better of them!!!!!!! Just a shame that it was not Pilling after all the problems that I had. |

stratstone preston
I for one am sad to see the preston dealership close. I bought my v70 from them and recieved excellent service from thier sales team and although I always serviced the car myself when the car suffered the dreaded etm problem the fixed it free of charge even though the car had never been back to them or any other dealer in 4 years now thats what I call good will.
