Tyre recommendations.
I'm wondering what sort of tyres are you guys recommending these days for a 123 GT?
General use and rain mainly. I picked the car up with a horribly mismatched set of old, crumbling tyres, and kept understeering in the rain......an interesting delivery journey to say the least! What suggestions can I get, please? Brian. |

Assuming you still have the standard 4J steel wheels, then you are stuck with 165/80R15s - the main good quality but sensibly priced ones in that flavour are Continental CT22 or Vredrestien T-Trac at about £55 to £60 a corner, fitted. The former has more traditional looks, but the latter is more up to date tech. The main choice used to be the Firestone F560, but these are not so easily available or as cheap as they used to be.
Have a look on websites such as http://www.blackcircles.com/ or http://www.mytyres.co.uk/ to see what is available, and at what price.

Thanks, Paul,
Those are the ones I am finding on all the searches, and I was leaning towards the Vredestein, so I think that is the option... Brian. |

Had 4 Vredestein T-Trac 2 165/80 R15 fitted to my '68 Amazon last year and the drive quality, handling and much reduced noise are amazing. I'd happily recommend them. I agree with the comment about looks, being more modern, but I rate safety above looks.

I have Vredestein T-Tracs all round, plus a pair of Vredestein Mud&Snow for the rear in winter. I can strongly recommend them!

Agreed, however I reckon that the T-Tracs look much better in reality, especially once they have a bit of road dirt on them, than they do in the tyre site pics (which make the sidewall design look very overt).

Why not Vredestein Classic Sprint ? Classic tyre looks with modern rubber technology...and what about if you buy new, have read the Amazon drives better with asymmetrical tread patterns.

Sprints are twice the price of the T-Tracs. Both are considered as summer tyres by current ratings.
