i do think the idea of having a section close by for Volvo owners who don't want to be judged yet have there cars on display, i know the day visitors parking was nice & close this year but was still seperated enough that i didn't go & have a look around even tho i did spot a few lovely looking Volvo's from the distance |

Agree'd there Pedro, I didn't print out my normal sheet that explained what I'd done to my car, but at least one of the guys in the 300 class did, and from what I could see by the judges, it was completely ignored. Still, I saw a lot of passers by reading it.

Awards
Is it posted anywhere who won what? I'd like to see the names and cars etc that won please
My apologies for the guffaws when the 'Longest-Toe' award was announced......as a chiropodist's daughter not having heard this award before, I began visualizing all sorts of things (which included clown sized shoes )

Owner explanations
Miss Demeanor's comments about her modifications are valid if the mods were part of the marking process; but the only criteria were cosmetic, not mechanical. (Best KEPT Volvo you see, not best DRIVING Volvo).
Obviously in the "standard" classes originality as well as appearance mattered, but in the non-standard classes a jet engine would have been fine so long as it was shiny! |

not sure how you'd go about it but i think the degree of mods should count towards some of the score Last edited by Pedro Fandango; Jun 22nd, 2006 at 12:43. |

Thanks for that Simon, thats cleared up something that I've always been a bit confused by!
So the BKV really is just done on shineyness, (ok, and getting rid of dents etc, and I guess paint finish) and not on the work that someone puts into there car in other departments, like performance and handling, or sorting out mechancical "features" that have been there from factory? (I'm trying to write this in a way that doesn't sound derogatory, as I don't mean that, but think I've failed completely!) I guess a competition by any other rules would be down to a lot more jodge interpretation, with favoured areas (e.g. power vs an overhauled well running stock engine), where as a shiney compition will be judged by almost all people the same. |

I think the "Pre-MOT" category should be done away with. I mean, how much effort does it take to keep a brand new car looking brand new?
