I don't believe the judging was fixed or biased as the cars that won were all excellent examples.

It's just that I think it would be nicer and fairer to let the members win the awards

I think forum moderators should have their cars judged by forums members...that way they get 50 points off for every deleted post

cheers

Picking up on a previous comment from someone in this section, it was just a little suspicious though to see at least three VOC officials either win or take runner up in the BKV judging. Particularly the one who took runner up in the class that he actually judged when there were some 8 other cars to choose from!

Just a point!

Car Clubs have always been the same mate...i know who i would have voted for none standard winner and runner-up, and it wouldnt be the usual lot, or the ones given....dont worry about the results, i ignore them and chouse my own best in show for my own amusment

I love keeping my car looking smart. However the big problem I have is that I love driving it even more. I would never win one of those contests.
I have seen Markas's efforts before and well, how on earth he manages to get into all those nooks and crannies is beyond me. I reckon he even polishes the oil.
Later,
Dan.

Doubt I will be leaving Iain. Hopefully will be able to get to a CB meet in my new 'exocet' at some point.
I think it will be a little while yet until I am the highest poster though!

Default Non-standard results...

Nobody was more surprised than me to find that I'd come second in the non-standard class as we were sure I was not that high when Iain and I had finished marking.

At one point I WAS in second place, so I was going to withdraw and let a non-judge occupy that position for obvious reasons. (Iain had not entered his car for similar reasons, but since mine had never got a pot, I reckoned I was completely safe from accusations of insider dealing!) However my car was demoted by another so I neglected to withdraw it.

Just to confirm the judging procedure; no judge could mark their own car and all owners were discouraged from being around when their cars were marked, both to spare their feelings and to avoid any taint of influence.

As some may have noticed, I left the show before the finish for both hayfever and "other half" reasons; if I'd been around when the prizes were given out, I would have withdrawn on the spot.

Cool

If you think that V.O.C staff winning is wrong, fair enough, but think about why they are staff. It's not because they like tennis, it's the love of Volvo cars. So why can't they keep them great and win.
I think they have the right to enter, and the right to win like the rest of us.

That is only true Simon, if you didn't mark me down for the chavtastic dump valve, LOL.
