Angry V40 T4 blower fan inconsistent

Hi all,

2002 V40 T4.

I have read other threads that relate to the V40 blower fans blowing inconsistently. Mine is doing it, and from what I have read I have done the following without any remedy to the issue:

1) Replaced the transistor under the glove box.
2) Removed the blower fan under the glove box and hooked a voltmeter up to the connecting wires and turned the switch up through the blower speeds. The Voltage increases incrementally through speeds 1-5, only positions 5 and 6 remain the same voltage.

The main issue is around blower speed 2 and 3. I normally notice it when driving, and typically enough, when I sit in the car trying to work out what the hells going on, it works just fine. When driving, however if always intermittently blows at the right speed then drops right off, and then it's anyones guess as to when, and for how long the right fan speed will return. Speeds 1, 4 and 5 appear in order, and speed 6 appears no different to 5, which kinda ties in with the findings from the voltmeter test.

Anyone out there got any ideas??? Is it a new speed switch, or is there anything I can do that I haven't already to test other components?

Help greatly appreciated.

Mark
