Fitting hazard warning switch to the P1800S
I recently acquired a Volvo 440 hazard warning switch and was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to use this in the P1800S. I posted a request for the 440 wiring diagram in the 440 forum a week ago and although it has had 179 views I've had no replies.
For those not familiar with the switch, pictures attached incluing rear pins. Any help gratefully received. |

Dave;
...anything is "possible" I suppose, but you would have to figure out the internal contact arrangement first, to see if it plays with the existing wiring (without an external relay to do switching which the switch does not accommodate), I don't know internal details of that switch so can't answer directly. Also, that Switch doesn't look like it has a lighted knob for local indication...it would have to be wired such that existing Directional Indicator reminds one that Hazard Flashers are engaged. I prefer the SWF Switch as used in the 140s, or the nearest currently available NESAN Switch (NOT no-name clones which are horrendous in quality!). These have all contacts and switching necessary, plus a lighted Knob for a period correct appearance. See also: http://www.sw-em.com/emergflash.htm If you insist on using that 440 Switch, fwd me the internal contact info and donor vehicle wiring diagram, and I'll have a look at it...contact me off line. Looks like NESAN is producing the switch http://nesan.com.tr/en/urunler/headl...s/ns-191-00-2/. Have you tried emailing them info@nesan.com.tr?

Russ;
By "relay" I did not mean the Blinker Element, it certainly doesn't look like it has one of those...I meant any switching which is required but is not done inside the switch, it would need an external relay slaved to the switch...that is again, if you insist on using that 440 Switch. The 140 Switch has a Blinker Element, requires a mere three wires to install, NESAN Switch does not, requires 5 or 6 wires...don't know about the 440 switch. See also link. Cheers |
