Default Servicing XC90

Greetings all
First of all - apologies if it hasn't been posted in the correct place...

Have just acquired a 53 plate XC90 2.4 diesel. My first one and planning to keep it until I don't need all the space the xc offers...

One - there appears to be an oil leak (looking at the various threads it could be very little or around £400?!)

Two - I need to get it serviced and probably put new cambelt as it has 84 on the clock. Not too sure about the cars past - even though it's in a great condition inside and out.

Three - it will need new tyres very soon by the look of things... Nokian I hear mentioned a lot, if I get a couple of responsed confirming that I'll be happy to give that ago...

I live in Pinner - NW London.
Looking at VOC recommended garages found Darryl Motors near where I live.
Have any of you used them at all in the past and would you recommend?
If not - do you know of anyone good in my area (or not too far from me).

Many thanks

It sounds similar to my 53 plate XC90 I bought 2 months ago, I bought it private it needed service, cambelt change and 4 new tyres, I also had an issue with an oil leak, this turned out to be a new intercooler, where exactly is the oil leak? if it's the front pan then could be similar, 200 part, 200 labour, service was quite cheap 140, front discs 120, cambelt 236, your car has 84k, I believe volvo reccomend this being done at 90k but as you have just bought the car I think its worth changing the cambelt and pulleys all the same. Tyres, I bought maximus, aus tyre originally, but not having owned a car this size before couldnt comment too much, you could try e-tyres who seem quite competitive and will come out and fit your tyres, I paid 424 for 4 brand new ones, other than that, enjoy the semi auto box? its a peach, my car has the dvd player, sat nav, running boards, xenons, phone (like outta star trek and it's a total beast. Oh, I have 3 young kids to support my decision. Good luck fella.

Default thanks Badger

sounds similar to mine but not as flash as yours with dvd, phone... : -)

took me nearly 6mths to decide on a 7 seater - nothing comes close to it really. My other 2 options were Grand Scenic or the Kia Sedona... not a difficult choice to make really (3 kids helping on that, too)! Gorgeous drive with tons of space and my last car being an X-Trail, there's quite a feel of luxury, too

I got mine only last week, at quite a reasonable price and because I wasn't sure about it's history (or the trader selling it) I did expect to spend a few pounds straight away... yep, am going to do the full works as well - including cambelt. The oil leak sounds similar, too - it is the front pan. Am going to take it to this Volvo Specialist on Monday as am a bit wary of driving around knowing there's an oil leak...

All the best

does it have any history at all with it? I'd be dubious but hey, buying any car is a gamble and hopefully you have made a good decision, good luck with your XC90. did the garage give you a warranty?

no warranty really -small dealer... who has been surprisingly good! He swears he wasn't aware of the oil leak and will pay for the repair!

I left it at this Volvo specialist this morning ... wait and see... doing a full service and cambelt as well. Tyres - might have to wait as it will probably come close to a grand ...

I was dubious but price, I thought, was good. Not a lot of miles and excellent condition inside out.

I'll let you know how I get on when I get it back (couple of days apparently)... next thing doing is fitting dvd for kids - sent a message to someone here who apparently does them just like originals factory fit...
