(You might feel the car surging during gear changes in an auto, and that might feel "clunky", but you'd never use the adjective "stiff" with an auto box).
How about this? Did you even read it in your haste to try and point-score yourself? 🙄

I see you've now (finally) advised that it is a manual box. Some "feel" stiff (in general, not just Volvo) when you're not used to them, but it could also be that the linkage needs lubricating, and/or the gearbox oil needs replacing.

It is obviously a manual gearbox I didn’t think I’d need to specify that since I did say it is stiff as in when I manually change gear. If it was an automatic i might complain that it’s jerky or bangs itself into gear or slips in gears 🤷*♂️.

Yea I suspected it could be the gearbox needs a fluid change or the selector replaced under warranty. I don’t think it matters too much because it’s within 30 days return period and I might just give it back because I’m not overly enthusiastic about their customer services as the nice sales man who said everything is covered under the 12 month warranty is now saying that it could be my problem and not their problem. He and the manager were all smiles and waves when we signed the paperwork though! Lol

I also find the seats very unsupportive what with it being momentum spec and our old car was r design which was a lot more comfortable to sit in!

There is an R design spec xc60 for little extra money and slightly lower miles at another Volvo dealer near me so I’ll give it some thought and maybe swap it for that one and deal with another dealer.

They want it in for service this Tuesday coming so I’ll make my mind up before then so they can just have the car back and service it when someone else buys it.

But another respondent made an assumption that it was automatic.

If the vehicle is non-conforming then yes - you do have an initial right to reject within 30 days per the Consumer Rights Act 2015. However the seller can require you to prove that the non-conformance actually exists. (i.e. the burden of proof lies with the consumer in this specific situation - normally the burden lies with the seller for the first 6 months).

If you go down the rejection route I suspect this dealer may do that and try to make things more difficult for you. (Hopefully I'm wrong).

Either way - good luck.

Thank you for your response and to be honest we do really like the car! It’s way ahead of our old V70 in many ways and it’s nice to drive apart from the issues and a few others I haven’t mentioned.

We will only reject the car depending on how the Volvo dealer/service centre handle the issues I’ve been having. If they tell me they’ve fixed something but it’s the exact same as when I dropped it off or tell me they can’t fix it because they don’t see any issues even after I point out that the issues exist then I’ll hand them back the keys and take a cab home from the dealer once they’ve transferred me the deposit I paid them.

I would then go somewhere else and get another XC60 or I’ll get a V60 or V90 because I have seen them around the same price of the XC60 with less miles and a lot more toys on them! Although I don’t miss not having pilot assist or adaptive cruise control but it couldn’t hurt to have them 🙂 also the R Design or inscription seats look much nicer than the momentum spec seats which I am finding uncomfortable but I think it’s because I haven’t found my perfect seating position just yet.
I will make a list of items for them to check/fix while they service it so I don’t forget anything and we can go from there.

If they do help and really try and fix the issues then we will keep it and hopefully have 4+ years of happy motoring.

I will update on Thursday or Friday once they are done and let you know the verdict.

Thanks again.

They’ve fixed the little problems with the car, the gear selector was greased up and it’s loosened up and me driving it has helped.

The drivers sliver door trim was replaced today under warranty as the old one had lifted.

The Clutch pedal was squeaking when pressed so they greased the hinge and spring which made all the difference.

The tailgate actuators were noisy and water was seeping out of them when the tailgate closed which was from where it was jet washed and got water in them but now they are fine and not so noisy.

Engine noise is just because it’s a D4 and they all seem to be a bit noisy when going up the gears but quieten down when cruising.

The service was completed, oil and filter, air filter and pollen filter at the same time while they were fixing the issues.

The car drives very well as expected now but the speaker trims in the drivers side and passenger side doors rattle like f when I have the radio turned up past half volume and the bass up.
They looked today and said they’ve fixed it but they still rattle. I’ll book it in for early next month as I’m getting sick of going back to the dealer and I’m sure they are getting sick of the sight of me!

The tyres look quite old and cracked now I’ve had a good look at them so I’ll mention that too as I think they should sell cars with a decent amount of rubber and not ageing rubber, need to look at the date codes to be sure they are old.

I think that’s all for now.
