Default Listening to Radio Stations outside the UK (e.g. USA)

Hello All

For the AAOS Google infotainment system:

Does anyone know of an App that will allow me to listen to a US radio station, in the UK, while in the car?

I can listen to US stations using my home PC/Mac no problem, by going direct to the radio stations websites.

However, the app that the radio station uses for non-web-based listening is TuneIn.com, which unfortunately comes up with a Regional Restrictions message – “This station is not available in your region”.

As I’m able to listen via the station’s webpage within the UK on my PC, this seems to me that any ‘T&Cs’ issues between the US and UK, are ok and it’s the App being the issue.

Many thanks

Have you tried downloading a different app, Open Radio should be available, Select USA as the country find the station and save it as a Favourite, should give you a lot of US stations to choose from.

Checked their website and luckily the San Francisco station I want is listed. I’ll try in the car later on today.

Cheers

Replaio radio is one of the best. No adverts and excellent sound quality.

Wish I could sort this in the earlier Sensus. TuneIn is not suitable for our cars because in the UK the Performing Rights Society has can't get them to pay a licence fee. TuneIn have just said no to PRS and crippled their service to the UK. If TuneIn won't pay it Volvo shouldn't put it in UK cars.

I'd like to find a way of playing Radio Paradise from California. My home HiFi (Arcam) uses a service that does work in the UK. My work around in the car is to use the iPhone App for Radio Paradise and connect by bluetooth to Sensus which displays the track information.

Asking the dealer to enable CarPlay is your best bet, IMO. I listen to SiriusXM this way whenever I visit the UK.

The TuneIn App on the iPhone seems to have the station, and that’s all you need for it to work via CarPlay.

Can you also not use TuneIn on your phone and then just connect it to the car by bluetooth?

For sure— the CarPlay would render a more native-like experience though.
