2017 XC90 - Faulty Key causing problems?

I just had a notification on my phone that my car was unlocked and the boot was open (I was sat over 10 miles away with the primary key).

My wife was at home and went outside to find the boot wide open and all the doors unlocked, she shut the boot and locked the doors.

15 mins later our neighbour came round to say all the windows were down and this evening the alarm has started going off….

I have checked the forum and can’t seem to find anything similar but have tried a few things the issue seems to have stopped with the battery removed from the 2nd key (I tried replacing the battery with a new one but the issue continued).

Should I replace the 2nd key or is there an obvious problem I am missing?

Where was the second key? In a pocket? Anywhere it could be inadvertently pressed?

If I wear jeans and put the key in my pocket I always find the boot up......

I use the key to lock it and then place it on table and watch the boot open, windows go down or the alarm go off. No buttons are pressed down / held down.

I have taken the cover off the key fob and the buttons all seem ok (I.e not jammed down). The problems only stop if the battery is removed from the key (I have tried a replacement battery)

Key could have been dropped / bashed but nothing memorable.

Have you tried cleaning the contact points between the buttons and the circuit. Sometimes a small amount of detritus can transfer on to the contacts and cause all sorts of problems.

I had this self same issue on an Audi S3 about a year ago.

The only fox I could find was o switch off the capability of opening all windows when you depress the key fob button for 5 seconds.

Mildly inconvenient in the summer, and not the perfect fix, but I lived with it until I sold the car last week.

Is it possible there is a new device nearby using a similar radio frequency? A potential clash with a neighbour's new wireless doorbell perhaps?

The key for my old Megane would always set off our wireless doorbell if you stood close enough, but it never worked the other way around. I wonder if the opposite is possible depending on the make/model of the car and device...
