Adjust the Tailgate Opening Height

So I’m finding the tailgate is just above my head when open. Consequently I’d like a bit more clearance between it and my forehead.

I have found the instructions on how to do this but my question is around how do I open the tailgate manually? If I open using the button on the tailgate handle it opens automatically. Do I then just keep pushing until I have it at my desired height?

I’m concerned it might already be opening to its maximum height and don’t want to force it further.

Yep, open it as normal.

Then manually push it to where you want it, then press and hold the button for 2 seconds until it beeps.

Job done.
