ABS / DSTC woes - replace rear sensor
My 2004 car is throwing an ABS fault.
Checked with VIDA and it appears to be the left rear sensor. Getting :- BCM-0031 Wheel sensor, left rear faulty signal BCM-0032 Wheel sensor, left wheel mechanical error. I have also checked on the fault tracing tab and if I add the velocity counter for all 4 wheels, fronts and rear right produce consistent values, but the left rear is flat lined.... so I'm guessing its that at fault rather than anything else electrical such as the BCM. I cant find any other info in VIDA (or at least my installation) about how to complete the job to replace. I found this thread on the forum here and it looks to be a right PITA of a job. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=183057 A couple of questions:- Before i go about trying to replace the sensor, I guess i ought to check that the reluctor ring is ok. How do you go about getting visibility of it? (I'm assuming this is not at fault as i would at least be getting some reading from VIDA if it was in poor condition but want to check it anyway) Re the replacement sensor. There are two parts nos listed on VIDA 8634247 & 30773744. Based on the chassis no, I think mine is the first one. I will ring my local dealer tomorrow to check on price but suspect it will be exorbitant. Looking around parts wise i can find plenty of aftermarket in the UK for the second one but not my one. Does anyone know if there are any fundamental differences. Some of the websites seem to list the 2 parts as interchangeable Thanks Nick |

The reluctor for the rear wheels is built into the bearing housing. You cannot see it or replace it separately.
Can't help with the part no.
