Unusual gauge location
Hello,
Spotted this on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-VO...item35cfd99ade I'm guessing photo's 8 and twelve depicting the gauges around the auto selector is not a standard issue location? It's a clever arrangement. Cheers |

I was looking at this 340 a few nights ago but didn't notice those gauges.
Looks like a custom job but very well done. |

As it is so well done I wondered if it was someone here or over on 300 mania. A very clever use of a dead space. Cheer |

I'd go with the halved main cluster also - the blanks above the fuel and temp gauges are designed to accept a vac gauge and ambient temp. The car is an 84 and as such has Smiths instruments. Aux gauges are much less common for Smiths than for the later VDO instruments.
The extra gauges in the pics consist of VDO rev counter, vac gauge, and ambient gauge. (yes I can tell the difference). Suggestion - owner bought an instrument cluster with the extra gauges fitted intending to replace the cluster in the car - and found VDO is not a direct replacement for Smiths. Owner used cluster to make an aux panel. BTW - there is an accessory panel available that fits in the "hole" in front of the gear selector - takes a couple of switches and two 52mm gauges - usually an oil pressure and a voltmeter. The Volvo panel is not that easy to find. God I'm an anorak - Mollusk. |

I really scored with my $50 one including gauges. Need to definitely find someone to mould more.
