Default v50 Audio Head Unit

My CD Changer was broken so ordered another off ebay but it wont work. It did until i made a change of channel then nothing. Comes on to tel me something about enhanced audio or the likes then nothing. Are they coded to the car, if so any way round this? I did keep the circuit board so if the code is in that then i can swap them over

They are coded to the car.

Not sure what it would cost but I believe you can get Volvo to reinstall the software for you.

I think you can also do what you suggested, ie keep the control section and just replace the broken CD part.

Bit of a bugger as i have another in the post what has a USB slot in the back. Prefer playing via USB rather than CD's or Bluetooth.

Cheers

The audio in these cars isn't easy to change or upgrade. Even the software to re-install different audio has several versions depending on what system is fitted and what you're changing to, even the wiring looms are different!

Maybe look at adding a 'black box' add-on solution or a USB kit if it's something you really want?

Whats the black box option. I see i can add a jack plug and use my phone but not to keen on that idea. Much prefer USB. I also seen a bluetooth add on like this jack one but lost the link

I can't speak for either of the add-ons you've found but they are the sort of thing I'm thinking of. Before you look at fitting an aux input check there isn't one already. The socket is usually fitted in the centre console in one of he holders. It should have a rubber cover which makes them difficult to spot.
