Default 2000 V40 1.6 petrol idling and running problem

Hi all.my V40 1.6 petrol year 2000 has started to chug(kangaroo) a bit when accelerating in 3rd gear in the morning.does get better when warmed up.also when stationary the engine idles eratically between 200 and 800 rpm and sometimes stalls when you stop at a junction but will start up immediately.Any ideas gents as to what it could be and do you think the 2 problems are connected.Thankyou Alan.

Problem now solved. engine light came on and fault code po303 was read by my diagnostics tool.I removed the top cover from engine and all plug leads.when i went to remove spark plugs they were all loose (ie you could tighten them by 2 or 3 turns to get them seated.I removed them all, cleaned them and refitted them.Car is now running perfectly.in fact when i come to a halt i have to check the rev counter to confirm it hasnt cut out,its that quiet.Have also cleared fault code and engine light is now off.
