Interesting engine. I think that it has come from a military vehicle. Snow cat/Laplander? Engine has metal shielded distributer, single downpipe exhaust and dual pulleys. Might be very low mileage.

Aren't some of the none passenger car applications lower compression engines Derek? Mind you it does have twin carbs which suggests not.

I know where you're going there Mike. Military engines might need to be compatible with lower octane fuel. Carb B20's max CR 9.5:1 but these might just have it lowered a bit with a thicker head gasket. Some of the very last UK 140's had 8 bolt cranks along with other metric internal parts. First 240's also had an 8 bolt B20 but I don't think there were any imported here or indeed made in RHD. That might make these flywheels rare but because they are for an equally rare engine might not make them more valuable.

I'm guessing we're talking about the one on ebay? It looks to me as though it's been marinised so could well be a Penta version of the B20B, possibly higher compression than the car counterpart.

I could of course be wrong but the fact the distributor has been sealed to a standard over and above most normal uses suggests precautions were taken to minimise corrosion from a salty atmosphere and/or damp entering the ignition system.
