Default Internal Rearview Mirror fault

Our 2016 V40 has developed a fault with the manual dimming rearview mirror. Just wondered if anyone has come across this before or has any ideas.

There is a lightening bolt / S shaped distortion mark appeared on/in the mirror. It is not on the surface of the glass, it cannot be cleaned or scratched off. Dimming the mirror makes no difference, it is still there. It appeared a couple of weeks ago and seems to be getting larger.

There is a common fault with the rear view mirrors falling off on some V40s - the adhesive gives way.

Perhaps yours is on the way towards falling off?

Does the glass fall off the front of the mirror?

Or does the whole Mirror assembly fall off the windscreen / centre console?

Anyone know how much a new mirror is?

The glass falls off on its own.

Prices seem to vary depending on the dealer. Occasionally there may be a goodwill payment, but if not average seems to be £100-£150 to replace it (I think they just replace the whole mirror unit rather than a new glass piece.)
