Roof Bars

Hi guys,

I think i've seen a discussion on V50 roof bars on here before but can't find the thread. I need some roof bars for occasional use not to keep on all the time so I dont want to pay mega bucks for Thule or genuine Volvo ones.

The thread mentioned some recommendations from other members of ones that fit well and don't look Sh@t for around £30 to £40 but can't remember where from. So anyone bought some they would recommend?

i used these for 4 years on my V50 with a 425l box attached.

Did the job really well

I am also looking for a decent pair. I paid £30 for a pair of Sumit SUM-001 from Amazon but the clamps bent after the first use and are being returned as defective and not fit for purpose.

Yes thats what i'm concerned about ending up with something not up to the job or ones that don't fit right.

I have these which are not Thule prices, and are neat. The lock bits on the end failed after a couple of years but use the bars often for Timber /kayaks. Would probably get the wider ones if doing it again to put larger items on.

Got Roof bars in the post. Anyone know what the weight limit is on the standard side rails? Got a bit heavy shifting to do.

75 Kg (170 lbs) is the specified max load for the Volvo OEM roof bars.
