Another non volvo specific one but today I tried out..

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00...b_b_asin_title

And it works a treat! All those miniscule little scuffs and tiny scratches you get from bushes and stuff, literally everything vanished (I did use a buffer pad and drill to help). Also waxed and polished for good measure. Car now gleaming from bonnet to boot

Fully recommend (I don't work for them or anything just happy to report is very good stuff)

Meguiar products are brilliant.

Default my v70

Been a busy week.

new boot divider came today.

Dog not impressed.

Also had rear windows tinted.

And fixed sticky bonnet catch that was stuck open.

Should have upgraded horns whilst I had the bumper off but didn't think about it.

And passed MOT without any advisories.

Default A couple of long over due things

Today I finally got round to doing a couple of things I have been wanting to, and needing to do for a while.
1. Needed to do - removed the indicator stalk and cleaned the contacts on the circuit board. Its been playing up intermittently for a while. I 'll see if the clean works and if not, it will be a new stalk.

2. Wanted to do - removed the HU803 head unit and fitted a Sony XAV-3500 double din unit with touch screen and Apple Carplay. As always, it was a real mess around with cables and my old body doesn't twist quite the way it used to. I used the connect2 connection kit along with the Dolby patch lead for the speakers. It is very good quality sound (at least to my ears).

Same as mine, its a good unit that, easy to use no messing about, good eq as well, has separate sub output and level with cutoffs for mains and sub which handy

Did you get a reversing camera on it as well, that was the most awkward bit due to length of cable and so on. If you do make sure you use permanent live not the reversing light because then you can look at it as a rear view when the boot is full as well

I only have normal speakers and even that has crystal clear sound. Bass was a little lacking but I added subs anyway so now it's very excessive if required or perfectly balanced otherwise

I did fit a reversing camera (a connects2 cam 9, which is a perfect fit on the tailgate. I have for the time being, just put it on the reverse light, but could easily move it over to a permenant live in the future. The only thing I got wrong with the fitting, is forgetting to put the mic on the unit. I will have to pull it all out again and fit the mic.

Yes I left the original 18 year old speakers and amp in the car, and it sounds great. (and with enough bass for my ears !!!!)

I forgot the other thing which took me a bit of trial and error

I don't know if you use a lot of DAB radio (pretty much replaced by internet radio really anyway I guess if you have the data to listen to it constantly..)

but anyway, after a bit of messing about I found the best place for the radio aerial was out to the right, via drivers footwell, into the door rubber strip, up and round the door, and hanging down the B pillar stuck pretty much right behind my top seatbelt bracket / up above the rear air vent. if that makes sense.

less interference from the engine I suppose, right in the back of the car would probably be better still but I was limited by cable length and it works perfectly now

Thanks for the info - but I dont listen to the radio much in the car, so I have not bothered with DAB. I just used the adaptor that came with the kit and connected the exiting ariel to the head unitg.

Yesterday's job was new track rod ends but discovered a knackered anti roll bar link while in the arches. It was in such a bad state that I was able to pull the ball out of the socket. Trip to motorfactors first thing this morning and a bit of angle grinding later the suspension is rattle and clunk free, just the drone from the bearing left (fingers crossed) which is tomorrow's job.

Now I know why I won the auction with such a low bid
