Default Battery replacement/disconnection

I've had to disconnect the battery for an extended period of time— I've had to send off the engine ecu for a remap, is there any special procedures for reconnection? I've experienced issues with my chrysler reconnecting a battery, I hear canbus gets funny when being reconnected.

The general advice is re-connect the battery +ve lead first and then then -ve. The only reason for this is if you catch your spanner on the bodywork whilst tightening the +ve terminal you won't short the battery.

Default Query re use of a Battery Saver.

General view appears to be to use an OBD2 battery saver plugged into the diagnostic socket and connected to a 12v source to preserve all the car’s settings whilst the main battery is removed. This does seem very sensible as we may soon need to replace the battery on my daughter’s 2011 XC70 and she would be well annoyed if I lost all the settings.
Does anyone have a different opinion?
I’ve also seen a similar idea for cars without an OBD2 socket which plugs into the cigar/12v socket and powered from a 12v source. That would be useful for my 940.

On that car you might have to reset the electric window auto-close feature, this is clearly documented on the manual. No settings or preferences will be impacted. Things have come on a long way since I used to lose the FM radio presets on my 1989 440.

Clan and Tannaton,
Do I understand you correctly that disconnecting the battery will NOT affect any of the car’s computer module”s memories, i.e. ECU, TCM etc. but the settings for window closure MAY be lost. Does that also mean that all other user controlled “car settings”, i.e. the ones that the manual advises how to set up/change, eg: seat position memory settings, mirror fold in settings, light settings, radio settings etc. may be lost and need to be reprogrammed.
If that is the case then I think that a memory saver would be beneficial.

I can confirm, No issues, No settings were interrupted apart from the clock needing resetting on the DIM and the windows needed to learn their auto workings.

If I had done that on the last car I had (300c), I would have needed to have had the door open and driven around the car park in opposite directions, reset the compass AND get the climate control unit controls checked.
Ah volvo, something simple finally!
