Can anyone confirm which models had the Aisin gearbox

Been burned by Powershift before on Mondeo and not keen
on a repeat.
The powershift was never fitted to the XC60.

The Aisin TF80 Autobox. This’ll be the box in your car, here’s some info that was published by a Volvo specialist who seem to know quite a lot about this box.

https://hortoncars.co.uk/volvo-news/...and-solutions/

I have one of these boxes in my motor and it’s ok. It’s certainly worth getting it serviced though despite Volvo playing the dealer for life card.

It was fitted to the T5 badged models that may arrive here as Japanese imports.

Good point, and actually which gearbox did the UK T5’s have ? There are a few around - I was thinking only of diesel models.

As said, get the ATF changed. Read the debates on here as to whether to do that incrementally (drain & fill), or in one go via a specialist and make your call. Don't do nothing.
No they didn't they have NEVER said that , I have written pages on this for the last ten years to correct internet theories and statements wildly made ..... There IS a service schedule but it's Optional not mandatory ...

It would certainly be wise to change the oil now AND get the latest software for it , which allows the box to compensate for wear up to a point ..

The only poor Auto gearbox is the GM one on the 3 litre 6 cylinder twin turbo T6 first seen in the S80 and early XC90

Note I said treated them. I try to choose my words very carefully.

They (Volvo) can write what they like in service schedules etc, but as you know there is an abundance of evidence as to the efficacy of my statement.

cf the endless discussions on this Forum. Try to find similar on other Forums for models which use these 'boxes (UKSaabs, for instance). They simply aren't there.

cf also the number of times that I have to explain that the gearboxes on Volvos aren't (in the currently fashionable term) 'chocolate' on, say, Pistonheads.

Wonder at the number of times people post, having bought a Volvo with say 100K on it and which have no record of any ATF change. (I have bought 3 such vehicles myself - 2xXC70s and a C70)

...but please, I understand that what you say is technically correct - but that doesn't make it an accurate reflection of real life.
