Battery test today, I've never tried to start the car since fitting the new battery and today I've taxed the 850 for the summer. It's still not showing on the website that it's taxed but that won't stop me going out for a drive as I have a few errands I need to run.

I never managed out in the 850 yesterday so today was the first time I tried starting it with the new battery and everything was fine. I went out on a couple of errands and a blast along the motorway to give it a run and all seems well after its 6 months rest.

It's not been cleaned since August last year so I might have to give it a wash sometime soon

Looking good Mr 4x4.

I’ve just taxed my Merc again for the summer, so good to get her out and give her a sound spanking hehe

Enjoy 😊

I decided it is time to change the heater matrix before it spews its guts out over the floor

I've a slight whiff of coolant when I start the car at first, no coolant loss and the interior is bone dry so I've caught it before the inevitable

Behr Matrix from eBay and genuine O-rings from Volvo.

Sadly I won't be able to join the Sunday choir this week as I'll be busy with my head stuck under the dashboard

Good luck, let us know how it goes please - I'm doing mine next week.

I've bought a Nissens one though, and I'm pondering using the o-rings included with that matrix - Nissens is a good brand and their supplied o-rings should be ok??? Or do you think I should pay up and get genuine o-rings?

Thanks, all done, fairly straight forward, most awkward parts for me was refitting the 2 x T15 Torx screws and the cover under the dashboard on the driver side. Everything else was straight forward

I drained the engine coolant at the radiator then cut a piece of plastic sheet to put under the matrix to form a funnel into a jug. When I disconnected the matrix there was 500ml of coolant came out and I caught the lot. There was a total of just under 7L of coolant came out and now that it's refilled I have 300ml left so there is still an air bubble in it. Once I've been a drive and it's cooled down I should be able to get the remaining 300ml in

This is the original matrix

Can just see the start of corrosion starting so I've caught it in time

I'll take it for a drive later to burp the system and get the last 300ml of coolant in

I'm sure Nissens have done their homework and the supplied O-rings should be fine
