Auto tailgate

Hi all one of my tailgate lifting struts is on its way out. I am told both need to be replaced and coded to the car. I know this is a common problem and expensive to fix £800 at the dealers. What I want to know is can I fit the tailgate with standard non motorised lifters and just have the normal manual tailgate. Any thoughts much appreciated. Car is d3 awd 2.4 diesel Xc60

I have done exactly that, now normal manual operation.Do a search on my posts in which I have given details of what to buy on eBay etc. Very easy. If that fails and if you wish, send me a PM . Regards
