It's not as bad as you might think.

The filter can definitely be changed with everything in situ .

There is another filter on the pump and for that on Gen 3 the pump must be removed an in order to do that the prop has to be dropped at rear and flange removed.

If doing that you may as well fit a new flange oil seal as they are cheap and it's a no brainer not to do it. It's very straightforward.

The exhaust does not need to be dropped to drop theprop on an XC90.

Originally I just used a length of plastic tubing in "fill/drain" Plug (13mm??) Subsequently i bought a mittyvac unit. Both ways work. -

The pressure switch and solinoid units in the DEM are both ABOVE the lowest level of the haldex unit, so you need to suck out the fluid, as it won;t all drain.
