I don't think so - I think the higher prices are here for a while now due to the now almost 2 year decline in new sales and the significantly higher cost of hybrids and EV - increasingly cars are no longer available as a simple petrol or diesel.

Thats a good point, never thought about the EV angle on things. I went to Honda yesterday to have a look at the new EH-V and it’s nice. New, they’re quite easily priced for a hybrids the top of the range model is around the £32k mark. But, tiny boot and no spare wheel option what so ever do that’s no longer in my list either. It’s gunna be an XC40 by the look of it.

I'm sorry but that is rubbish. Pretty much as I joined this forum when I bought a Volvo I joined a Subaru forum when I bought my Outback. Five years on the forum and I didn't see a tenth of the complaints I see here for more recent models.

The fact is that while the Subaru Forester is not to everyone's taste, they're flipping good as an AWD, they're classless and people hang on to them forever. Oh, and they still seem to be avoiding the plague of touchscreenitus.

What touchscreens need are some handily located buttons to activate the screen remotely, or perhaps a joystick-controlled prosthetic arm attached to the console.

Not car designers and ergonomists finest hour - one wonders if they actually ever drove the cars, or is it simply that they're the Marketeers' b*tches?

UK Subaru sales last 2 years (SMMT) 3,058
UK Volvo sales last 2 years (SMMT) 94,668

So would expect to see ~ 4/125 (3.2%) of the problems reported on Subaru's vehicles if they have the same failure rates/ issues on Volvos in the UK forums.

Your numbers don't really add up though.

Subaru owners on Subaru site 100%, presumably?
Volvo owners on Volvo site 100%, presumably?

I'm not denying that there were problems with 2012/13 cars, Subaru fixed the problem and introduced five year warranties.

I'm not claiming Subarus are more or less reliable / problem free than Volvo, I'm simply pointing out that you would expect much less than 1/10th of the problems on the Subaru forum in the UK vs the Volvo forum assuming both have the same failure rate.

The numbers are officially recorded sales in the UK.
