Gearbox icon showing
Hi all,
XC90 2011 d5 awd, 50k mi, uk. Noticed the other day it was sluggish to change down on acceleration, intermittently. Yesterday, same thing, then noticed gearbox icon has come on. It seems to largely drive ok apart from this. I can't find similar problem in search here, (surprising?). Can anyone throw any light on this please? PS I could be confusing gearbox icon with engine icon. The message window is saying engine system service required. Last edited by StevieH; Aug 6th, 2022 at 12:03. |

Thanks for that.
I'm trying to pull the unit codes manually for now. What's the word on the icarsoft Volvo OBD reader vs Vida dice? |

There is no gearbox warning light or icon, it's very likely the engine warning light - and that's good news for you as the majority of engine issues that may cause they symptoms you are experiencing are far simpler and cheaper to resolve than if it was the gearbox at fault....
Getting the codes read, as you are, is the next step...

Thanks for that reassurance Tannaton. I did the edit when I realised it was the engine MIL. I think I had become gearbox paranoid!
My local garage will read codes for £25, but I'm wondering if it is going to be worth investing in Vida Dice. Preliminary manual pull of module info. shows codes are set for TCM,ECM,DEM,CEM,CCM & PDM. So the clear-and-sort and tackle which code appears next may well entail a good few £25s. Does anyone know if there is any way I can check for a reasonably local matey type person who already has an analyser to get the ball rolling? |
