You could investigate www.sharkperformance.co.uk. No connection, never had anything to do with them, but they do list XC60 2.4D which is the precursor to the 2.4 litre 163.

You could also consider an external tuning box...
I fitted one to our C30 2.0D and it certainly improved performance and fuel consumption but perhaps not as much as a remap.
Some companies offer a money-back deal so you can try first and return if you're not happy.

Outside of my own very narrow interest in not being readily able to supply and install aftermarket software it is intended to and will cost owners dearly in the maintenance and upkeep of their cars.

Frankly it stinks.

Back to your original interest in gaining higher outputs from your engine, the vehicle now being close to being outside its warranty period.

Neither MTE whom I represent here in the UK or any of our competitors have access to the ECU through the OBD port. It can be done by opening the ECU but that is a time consuming, delicate and costly undertaking.

So, you are obliged, for the time being, to take the equally costly route of the Polestar branded but Volvo written option......

Hi Don

With respect to the subject of remapping Volvo engines, I hope you can advise.

I have a 2009 XC60, a 2.4D AWD putting out 163bhp.

My question is, can a 2.4D 163bhp unit of 2009 vintage be remapped to improve its performance.

I had a 2006/7 V70 D5 185bhp prior to this which had a more get up and go and I feel I could achieve more from what I have currently got, it feels somewhat constricted if you know what I mean.

Thanks in anticipation of answers.
