V50 towing
I have just got back from a holiday in France and towed my Bailey caravan over 1200 miles in the process. Now when I bought the V50, a two litre diesel, I was a little concerned as to what I was doing as my last three cars have been T5's. Now obviously the T5 is a powerful beast and that combined with its weight makes it a very good tow car so I was just a little concerned. Need I have worried? Quite simply not at all! The V50 has the same torque output as the T5 so it just pulled in the same way as the T5, the weight was more than sufficient and as regards the fuel consumption, well I think that an average figure of 32mpg with the van on the back speaks for itself. The T5 struggled to get over 20 so fuel usage with the V50 was greatly reduced and of course with diesel being about 76 pence a litre over there I was left with enough loot to stock the 'wine cellar'. Oh and the V50 didn't complain about the extra weight there either!
I thought I would pass this on in case anybody who tows is thinking of buying a V50 2 litre diesel and is worried about whether to do so or not. |

V50 D5 has just won Caravan Club Tow Car of the Year so must be a good car for that purpose.
