just out of interest if you were planning to tune both of the above engines which one would be a better starting point?

The latter if you could get one, but you would not want a early 2319, the later ones 99 are the strongest, and have the green injectors on the R,

I'd get a later spec 2319 lump and use that as the 2435's have thinner bore walls and i've seen a couple that have cracked altho not on R's but on the cross country AWD's

so it gets confusing? my question was kind of aimed at if you wanted to upgrade turbo chip & exaust

are the walls too thin on a 2435 lpt engine too seriously upgrade the power?
