Tappety intermittent noise on idle?
Hi everyone
Today I've had this tappety noise on idle when starting. I pushed the clutch down and it disappeared? It doesn't do it all the time and I noticed it last week. Any ideas? I myself was thinking noisy tappets but then I'm not sure how it's related to the clutch.

Hi Jabe.
Something tells me its the thrust bearing. I remember in a topic I posted when I joined regarding clutch judder, a poster said they experienced similar problems and it ended up being the thrust bearing Regardless it's definitely clutch related - This is probably the thrust bearing starting to play up I have a feeling that's what is, but I could be wrong.

Been doing my research and based on what I've read, it's either the Input shaft or the release bearing.
Any more thoughts on this would be great.

play in the input shaft would cause a judder, more likely cause would be release bearing or Dmf, if there is a tapping that goes away when the clutch is disengaged then i would point at the bearing first, but either way its a gear box out job so it would not hurt to put a new clutch in it and prob replace the crank oil seal while your at it

A constant tappety noise. Hard to explain. Sounds a bit like the noise my meganes clutch made on the bite point but in my case it's when the clutch is not being touched and the car is in neutral.
