Default Auto transmission software version

Can anyone here please tell me how to find the current transmission software version using VIDA?
I have a '09 XC70 which, although generally OK has a few quirky transmission issues. I recently bought VIDA through ebay which has been useful during ATF flushes (four in all) but I was wondering whether a software update would benefit.
I have no idea of how to find the present version of software, or indeed whether I can do this through VIDA. Is it possible to update software myself or do I need to go to a specialist?
Thanks in anticipation.

You can't do software updates from an at home DIY VIDA setup. It has to go to a main dealer, or go to a Volvo specialist. Check with the specialist if they can do transmission software updates before you book it in, as not all do them. Most reputable ones do though, but its worth checking.

you may be able to do it with vdash but you would have to purchase the update and find some one who is signed up with v dash

I think you can establish the current software version with VIDA but as had been said - updates need to be done with a licensed version (main dealers or authorised repairers/Indies).
