Default Buying advice

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a cheaper XC90 for holiday use and carting around two boxer dogs. Looking for any advice and what to lookout and problems older models have. Ideally 2003-55 models as cheaper tax. Looked at an 04 yesterday, needed three new tyres, anti skid and parking assistance service showing on dash. Been sat a while and a bit musty but generally good condition all round. Did rumble a bit on driving but maybe that’s the tyres? One tyre illegal others not far off! Had a new engine at 90k had 170k on the clock. Asking £2k but with the tyres and service required I walked away. Not expecting miracles or immaculate at that price but don’t want to spend another 1k on putting it right! Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Welcome, you will get better response if you repost in the general XC90 section rather than the sales.

Hope it helps

You cannot run an older XC90 on the cheap , Most 10 year+ old ones seem badly neglected now . You can do very little with your £1000 you plan to spend on repairs .You should put aside at least £2500 to get the car back up to scratch and Pass an MOT , It will then happily do another 100,000 + miles .
