Beautiful red 240 GLT (I think) that was being driven down Sandford Road in Chelmsford then towards the bypass. Registration ended in BAY. Never seen it before but it looked like an exceptional car.

Cheers Paul. I've just been trawling through old forum posts and have now seen the history of the car. Very interesting. The last owner "nick.ct" seems to have sold it on to someone who doesn't partake in the forum which is fair enough but it's great to see the car around locally!

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your comments on the car. it is indeed a 240GLT Saloon, registration G490 BAY whcih I bought towards the end of March, so not had it long. I'm gradually working through some things and so far fitted new front wheel bearings, pads & discs, an Alpine head unit and 2 front tyres. Also wired the fog lights to a genuine volvo fog light switch (found on ebay in the states) and when I did a service, fitted the oil plug sensor in place of the standard drain plug to activate the oil temperature gauge. I've owned 3 volvos in the past including a previous 240GLT Saloon which I sold in 2001 and regretted it ever since so it's great to own one again! If anyone knows my old 240, it would be great to know if it is still going. It was dark grey metallic with beige leather and the registration was E508 YTW. I will try and post some pics of BAY at some point, Tony |

Cherbourg, France 7/8th August
I spotted two 240 estates whilst in Cherbourg this week. The first was a French registered silver one that I saw twice, the first time no camera to hand and the second time by the time i'd got the camera on it was already in the distance (hence the first 2 pictures!)
The second was a white German registered estate parked on the harbour side just down from the ferry port. Maybe the number plate is a personalised one for the car?!

Thanks to Beetledrive for such a quick response to my enquiry. Doesn't seem like good news then which is a shame because the car was immaculate when I sold it. I wonder how many of us this has happened to though?!
