Since I've updated to V2 Ive lost like everyone the ability to use the USB port to play music files.
But also now the connection to my I-Pod via the Bluetooth keeps disconnecting. Sometimes it last just a few seconds and other times a few minutes. Never had this problem before.
The bluetooth to my I-Phone however still seems to be working just fine.
Is it as I have 2 bluetooth deveices connected , the phone is for calls only and I-Pod for music only. They worked without problem prior to update to V2.

I've noticed that my bluetooth connection to my phone keeps dropping out, I've completely factory reset the car deleted the phone and car from the bluetooth settings on both the car & phone, I've reset the network settings on my phone, with no luck, it still drops out.

I have an iPhone 12 Pro with the latest updates. its so frustrating!!

HI all,
Dont get me started on this WHOLE USB loss thing! im fuming!
What gets me even more annoyed is THEY cant roll back to the OLD version of the OS!
Being a techie i just told them to reinstall the old version! dealership says they dont have the kit to do so! hummmm me smelling a very rotton fish there!
HURRY UP VOLVO and bring our P2.01 or what ever you want to call it!
As for issues by whole AAOS system just randomly reboots while driving!
DAB drops out more than usual! even had a portable DAB raido on the same station and that never dropped! ( Car was on my drive! ) had to repair the phone to the car like 4 times since the update!

I hear You, big time!

Sure, any car can suddenly experience a mechanical or electrical failure, especially as they get older, it’s just par for the course when owning a car.

I understand that cars have been using electronic components since the 1970s and ECMs in the 80s, but these components and their interface communications were based on bespoke system programming specifically written by the automotive industry for these systems, for use within cars. (I used to work for GM)

Zoom forward to 2022 and you now have a non-automotive industry company ‘Android’ trying to do the same for cars, when their background is in mobile phones. I dread to think in a few more years’ time seeing the likes of Amazon and Facebook getting their fingers into the automotive operating systems market…

If the Volvo AAOS system only controlled the audio entertainment part of the car, I would not be so worried, as if the radio gets bricked from a software update, no big deal, as at least I can still use the car, as a car.

Volvo has been ether very brave and adventures or very stupid and careless, by jumping into bed with an unknown when it comes to automotive system controls and interfaces.

I just wish I could really enjoy my new XC60, but unfortunately every time it has to go on a long journey, I’m thinking in the back of mind – is the dam things software going to brick the car. Far from the quality car ownership message they try to imply…

I was away at the coast for a winter break, got into the car the next morning and the entire central display panel was dead. Had to drive the car the whole morning at 5 degrees inside as there was no way to adjust the heating temp – not nice. Fortunately, after getting back in the car after having lunch, as if by magic, it was all working again.

On another occasion I wanted to hear the news and found the car had decided to disable the DAB radio (not able to receive). Had to then find a place to pullover, restart the car and once again, as if by magic, it was all working again.

Had on one occasion when the car did not want to start right away and had to try it a few times, without any reason why.

It is the unpredictable, flakey nature of the car that is always now in the back of my mind i.e., “what will it do today???” I've never owned a car like it before - but then it's not a car, it's a laptop on wheels

Never had a reboot or dropout of any sort, sorry to hear your strife.
Latest I have heard from over on the Polestar forum (a good heads up on AAOS upgrades as they seem to get the OTA update ahead of us Volvo owners). According to a software tester who posts they have just installed 2.1 on some cars for beta testing and things seem to be moving along. A few Polestar owners have also asked him about the usb audio status and see if he can test it out, hopefully hear back very soon.

LRS sorry to hear that, really does seem there is something fundamentally wrong with your software and possibly hardware if that is what's happening.

It sure feels that way.

The car went into the dealer not long ago to have every possible electronic component tested and updated as not all things get covered under the OTA updates. They also updated the car to v2.0 at the same time.

They reported back ‘no faults found’…, so it can only be one of 3 things:

• Accurately diagnosing these cars in beyond the technical capabilities of the local dealers
• Volvo Sweden is withholding information from their dealers
• The dealer is not obliged to tell its customers what it really found – i.e., tell them nothing

Nether of the above are unusual and I have experienced both working in the IT world.

What would be interesting to know (anyone here work internally with Volvo?) if Volvo has different manufacturing tolerances for the components in their cars based on model? E.g., do XC90s have fewer faults than XC60s? When I worked at GM it was known internally that a given component fit into a Chevrolet had a wider tolerance compared with the same component fit into a Cadillac, which meant the Cadillac component was much more reliable. It’s the same logic of MIL spec being superior to CIV spec items.
