Hi all i'm about to service the T4 in the next two weeks (oil/air/sparks) and although i understand the basic theory i could really use a hand off someone that knows better. You wont be expected to do anything other than offer guidance. I can pay in Cake Hot drinks and biscuits.

You have youtube with thousands of tutorials on how to do these kind of stuff. Also there is tutorial specific for the X40 cars, just search it up.

And if you get any problem just make a thread here.

If you don't own an oil-filter unscrewing tool, buy one. Do not attempt to improvise.

Be careful with the oil filter housing as it's only plastic, and ensure you replace the o-ring that sits in the channel on the filter housing, not put another on top or up top of the threads. (which I have seen done before).

You have to remove the undertray to get to the filter housing and the drain plug. That is why so many get left off by lazy folks who cannot be bothered with all the hassle. Get some plastic clips for the tray before you start as they will break and /or be missing.

As others have said, the filter housing is plastic and should be tightened to 25Nm. Get a genuine filter element as the filter should fit snuggly in the housing - when I bought my C70 and did the first oil change the element was a Fram filter. It was a sloppy fit at both ends so did not filter any oil at all, although side by side it looked identical to the genuine filter.
