As has been said above if the slave cylinder is stuck in the bellhousing don't hit it as it will brake the bellhousing cut it out which is a difficult job but the only way. I have seen many broken bell housings where someone thinks I'll just give it a tap and it might come out!

Aaaargh it's rubbish when it's cold and Christmas - time off work but no ability to go out and fettle

Jobs for 2023

Get the car MOTd

Tidy up the wing mirrors

Re-wire the tailgate

Finish my subwoofer install

Re-trim headlining in black

Fix the dash crack

Fit a nice crated supercharged V8 (I wish)

JJ

A good look forward for all of us to read about. I'm particularly looking forward to the nice crated supercharged V8 (go on, do it!).

Haha - and filthy as hell!

Thank you though

What were you in? May have been the missus driving (reluctantly)

Would love to see the 740 one day

Morning all; I've been following this thread with bated breath - it made for great reading as I had a lot of pages to catch up on.

JJ, what's the latest with your 240?

Looking forward to seeing more progress,

- Thorne

Agreed, the weather has been terrible. I've an old rusty Beetle I have been working on, but really would love some sunshine to be able to pull it out of the garage and weld properly.

I can only imagine how much of a pain the roof lining would be, I did it on an old golf of mine and that was bad enough, let alone on an estate.

Thanks for the update though JJ! Great to hear there are still jobs to do; your thread has given me plenty of ideas for my 240.

Whoop whoop so we've been getting a bit of sun recently so apart from a week on the Isle of Wight (in the pug e208 not the Volvo) I've been able to get after a few tiny niggles...

The DRL sidelights - always been flakey sometimes none would not come on and sometimes the other would turn off after 10mins of driving

Had cleaned up all the contacts but it was clear they were just loose in the fitting

This is the fitting (1989 2.0 GL)

and yes that's it cleaned up haha

What it looks like is there is a fixing top left fails with corrosion

So a little screw from my Tamiya box of parts

Well that's fixed it for now
