940 exhaust manifold issue
Hi
My 940 needed new manifold gaskets earlier in the year. A couple of them have blown again. Can anyone advise whether this is a common issue and whether I ought to be trying to source a new manifold - or simply hoping the garage does a better job of installing new gaskets??? If new manifold - any advice on where I might get one Its a 2.3 LPT Cheers |

Did you put them on the right way round? They don't last long if not.

The most common blowing we see coming in is not the gaskets but the manifold having cracked.
The gaskets can sometimes fail but should not have let go so soon. The manifold wants inspecting and most likely will need repair unless they did just fit the gaskets the wrong way |

Every turbo manifold I've seen has been cracked. They all seem to at this sort of age with thousands of heat cycles to their name. Once removed, fairly straightforward to have it welded up.
Even if you're not performance minded, I'd say there is a case for opening up the port that feeds the turbo exhaust gas. It's pretty restrictive in stock form and I believe contributes to backpressure and therefore excessive heat retention making the heat cycles more strenuous than needed. |

Could be also excessive back pressure by a blocked backbox / cat, but unlikely |
