Default Gearbox

Got mine from CP Motors Polesworth about two years ago. Came from a D5 slightly different gearing but still fits. Your main expense could well be if you also need to replace the dual mass fly wheel. Cost altogether ( with paying someone to do the work) about 1200 but well worth it.

if it's a 5 speed it should be the M56 and if six then M66 i believe (think there's an M58 but unsure)- and also not sure if that ones a 5 or 6 speed
anyway HTH

tbh i dont know what gearboxes the P1 V70 uses, if it's a M56 then it should fit unless somebody knows some bizarre reason why volvo made M56 gearboxes on P1 and P2 not interchangeable

£200 to £250 should get you a secondhand M56 gearbox from a T5 and since there is no software as is necessary with the auto then it should be a straightforward job , you should check the dmf and clutch and have a really close look at the slave cylinder and probably renew that at least ( about £70)since you have everything off at the same time , I would have thought that any competant mechanic could do the lot for a labour charge of about £300 or less .

Refer to my earlier post My car is a V70 T5 2001 and a gearbox out of a D5 fitted so dont assume you need an exact match. The only thing different may be clutch plate but I assume you would change than anyway while the gearbox is out. Mike

just thought i'd post as it's relevant, i'v had to have another gearbox on mine just this week (not got it back yet)
if you get desperate i can recon the manual box (01 plate S60 2.4t which is exact same gearbox afaik) off mine and flog it you or flog it you as is for less
