Registering Technical Publications
Following my earlier post about difficulties in authorising the software, I would like to record that the email helpline was indeed most helpful. I was contacted very quickly and had a phone call from a chap called Mark in the USA who was able to show me where I had gone wrong and got it sorted out right away.

Bought my copy at the National (for the 700 series). Intriguing licence install process but all done with no major problems and the content looks fabulous and extremely useful. I can heartily recommend purchasing one of these to anyone who does any work on their own car.
Thanks to anyone here who was involved in getting these sorted out. Dan |

Just to clear up some confusion.
The discs have one licence which means they can be installed on ONE PC. They can however be uninstalled and installed on another PC if you wish, so when you upgrade your PC etc. you can still use it. Kind regards Chris |

How is that done then Chris? Just delete it from your computer, and load it up again on the new one? Cheers, Bob.

Can anyone point me to Ron Kirby contact details please? Tried searching users, tried messaging Chris (but cannot due to forum restrictions).

Well, in the October Volvo Driver on page 27 these "original technical publications" are advertised with internet links to demos and a Register/FAQ link, too. NONE of the links work and I tried them several times. I don't like buying anything without first seeing some clear indication of the goods. I must assume that these are genuine and that other members have bought them and found them all they advertised to be? Grateful confirmation. FYI - I have owned from new a 1993 Torslanda 245 of which I am very proud.

I have discs for my 940 and also bought the 740 ones as well. For my car which is a 94 940 they are pretty good but do have some omissions. The description for the 940 should say 'all available greenbooks' as the 4 cylinder engines are not covered. I believe that when the engines were updated the information was put on the Volvo computer system but no new books were printed. I have access to Volvo's old computer system and it covers any gaps with the new discs.
I think that the ones available for the 240 might be more complete as their probably wasn't the option of putting the info on a computer at the time. Despite the missing bits if you want parts and servicing info the only thing better is a complete set of the books. |
