I thought 3.9 was the highest numerical ratio available for a 240?

4.6 is Amazon estate- try there.
Rumour has it some Jeeps use the same axle/diff-Dana? might be worth a dig on turbobricks etc.

There should be a sticker on the axle tube that'll say the ratio, probably 3.73 or 3.89 most commonly.

It could be buried under some underseal so be really careful if you find it when scraping the muck off as it'll be brittle now and may try to disintegrate.

I think 1030 is stock open diff from a 240. 1031 is Torslanda?.....I could be massively wrong on this.

In the early models you might be able to find a 4.1 ratio.
But most common is the 3,73 and I have seen some 3,91&3,53 passing by.

For the requested short ratio/higher revs. you most probably end up searching for a diff from another vehicle which you can mount into the 1031.

Thanks for the Reply,s. I have a 3.9 in a 1030 axle now , What im hoping to end up with is a 1031 axle (stronger) & i shall try to fit a dana 30 cwp of 4.8 or 5.1 into it. Luke is yours a 1031 ? as im still looking for one.
I will have a complete 145 rear axle for sale shortly. GJG
