If you remove the road wheel and get a good torch you should be able to inspect the toothed reluctor rings from inside the hub. If there are cracks or it is corroded it misinforms the ABS module as to the wheel speed. The ABS then throws a wobbly thinking the wheels are spinning at different speeds.
As said above, it is a time consuming job. I’ve done one, Cheshire D5 has a good video on how to go about it. But do be careful not to dislocate the driveshaft from the transmission unless you really have to.
Also if you’re going to do it, buy a bearing seal because chances are the one in there will fall to pieces. It’s only a fibre ring and quite cheap.

So got the wheels off today the passenger side ring looks a bit rusty no cracks or damage, sensor also looks fine, drivers side ring perfect as expected although code of been damage in transit etc, sensor worn down slightly so has been rubbing, cleaned both sensors refitted, started car no ABS fault, could just be luck, still have alarm service and anti-skid service required on dash, can these be reset or erased? Or does this mean there is still and active fault on the system?

have you replaced your battery? if not, do that next but make sure you leave the old one off for an hour or so before putting the new one in

you might find the anti skid warning goes away

you won't get rid of the alarm one though without actually repairing / replacing the unit, if the unit is the cause which is probably is

did you check your rear window connectors? they can come loose (costs nothing to check)

I just resolved my "anti skid service required" message today. I had fault code BCM 0130 and Volvo told the previous owner, "You need to change the Brake Control Module."

I took it to Control Units in Uffculme in Devon. 01884 798090 call Sam, very knowledgeable.

They were quick, friendly, competent and a pleasure to deal with. They quoted 180 +vat if you send it to them, or if you don't fancy having to bleed it all after refitting and then cancel the fault codes, drive there and they'll do the whole thing while you wait.

It cost me £330 all in today which I think is good value. They took it for a test drive before handover and its guaranteed for 5 years.

Then I went 100m round the corner to a busy little garage where they mot'd it for me SGUffculme 01884 840247 ask for Martin. Again excellent service from competent people.

I highly recommend both these companies.

Keith

You shouldn't need glue, you should be able to just squeeze it slightly with pliers till it clips back on tight

Or just take the trim off and short the two cables together up above I suppose
