Default B18u engine - gas strut mod idea

Hi 400 owners - most of you will know the pain of doing that cambelt change and you have to take out the little gas strut that blocks everything in. it's a nut and bolt type affair and if you dont loose the nut, getting it back together if you havent got small enough arms can be a right pain.

my idea is to weld the nut onto the body, so i only need to have a long reach rachet to put this back - what are your thoughts, any ideas?

Just changed my belt at christmas and it can be done without removing gas strut, just need to loosen the bolt that holds strut to alternator bracket so you can pull timing cover up and out, you cannot get bolt out just loosen it off enough to move strut over a little.
