Volvo C70 Head unit
Hello everyone. I have just bought a 2009 C70 SE 2.0 D and I am loving it
I am interested in upgrading the stereo in the car. As far as I can tell I cant connect my phone to the stereo and use it as a hands free kit. Although having said that there is a little rectangular box about the size of a matchbox and there appears to be a microphone above the rear view mirror but although my phone will see it it wont pair to it. Now, on my centre console there is a blanked off button, and when I look at pictures online that button says phone on it. So I was wondering if i would need to replace the head unit and the buttons on the console, or just the buttons on the console. I plan on having this car for many years so it would be worth wile upgrading it to run my phone via bluetooth to the head unit. Any advice on what I need to do to achieve this would be great Thanks David |

it would be quite a bit of work, if memory serves me correctly you need to have the stereo and console replaced and the software updated plus any extra's that may be required to make it work.
it's a main dealer job though so pop in and get a quote, recently they have been doing stereo upgrades for about £230 ish for the DAB changeover. Francis |

Unless you're going to spend some serious money you won't improve on the built in head unit/amp/speakers setup. The Volvo DAB unit adds aux and USB in as well as DAB and is about £270 fitted from your dealer.

£230 sounds reasonable to me too.
If you were to head to a high street retailer yes you might get a better looking unit that ticks the boxes, but beware most of them are unlikely to be compatible with the cars built in amp etc. So you'll end up with potential poorer quality sound than you started. |

i have aux and usb sockets in the centre console inside the box where the arm rest is. and i have a unit about the size of a matchbox that i have managed to link my phone with now.
it wont pick up my address book but i can dial numbers through my phone or answer calls and it use the car as a hands free. So is that the DAB unit? i cant find any literature online about how it works so it has been down to tinkering with it really |

The DAB unit has nothing to do with the phone functions in terms of making calls, accessing address book ect ect, that is an add-on for the stereo, the DAB unit just enabled the stereo to pickup the new digital signals which old units can't.
