Wanted: black roof rails (shipped to NZ)
Anyone have any for sale or know where I could get any?
I know a lot of places say they won't ship international but sometimes they take pity once they realise u live in one of the remotest countries on the planet

Hi UKNZ,
Are you looking for the roof rails themselves (bolted to the car along the sides of the roof) or roof bars (clamp to the roof rails and go across the car), at least that's how I define them... I have a pair of black roof rails that I bought to retrofit to my V70 but believe it or not Volvo actually go to the length of having different roof moldings and unless you are willing to try to bend and shape your roof it can't be done! (I only found this after taking the roof lining down!) |

I'm looking for the rails not the bars.
Thanks for the info by the way, but not sure what you mean - I was aware the old v70 bars dont fit the new (post 08) v70 - but if I make sure the bars come from the same generation car, it'd be fine wouldnt it?

Unfortunately no. If you put a V70 P3 with roof rails next to one without the difference is easy to see. The drainage channels in the roof that the rails sit in are about half an inch narrower on models without the roof rails.

Oh wow, really? what a crazy design decision, I thought volvo were better at that kind of thing *sigh*
Oh well, you live and learn, thank you! I'll live in hope that mine originally had them and the previous owner removed them, you never know! I'll measure them then find some others to compare with thanks again S

You could try Ali baba for some lookalikes....I'm sure that would be closer and cheaper for you Re shipping and they seem to stock every conceivable thing on there.

I couldn't believe it myself. It seams like a lot of effort to go to rather than just not drilling holes.... My local Volvo dealer was surprised too, they hadn't even seen a V70 without them.
Of course your car may be different so definitely check it out if you can. Buying from the UK just got a whole lot cheaper for you now too ! |
