Disconnect the battery for 20 mins if your worried and make sure you have a good set of long torq shaft for the two air bag bottles then it's just a matter of turn the wheel 90degress until you can lock the wheel in the position so it won't move. Then it's a 19 mm long socket to undo the steering wheel in all takes 10 mins from Start to finish if not disconnecting the battery

Did mine about 4 weeks ago and forgot to disconnect the battery

I have changed a couple. First one I did was a cream V70 one that looked like it had been used by car breaking pikeys. I re-dyed the leather. Came out nice but the stitching was forever stiff to the touch so decided against that for my current one. Cream wheels do not wear well and look tatty so I got a wood rim one. DO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. get the steering pointing straight ahead. I fathomed out the torx size by pressing my finger tip into the hole to get a impression on my finger tip then it is just undo the torx, carefully remove and unplug the airbag, set it to one side. Get a mate to hold the wheel still while you undo the centre nut then rock the wheel from side to side gently and off it comes. Slide the new one on in the dead ahead position and tighten the nut, replace the bag and it's done. Wooden wheel looks and feels so much nicer. My one is that lighter colour wood, I would have prefered the darker one but it was all I could get at the time.
