Default 1996 Volvo 850 auto shifter bulb info needed

Hi all,

My auto shifter needs some new bulbs. Any idea how many I need and where to get them from? I've found the below on eBay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363512567...RoCBDkQAvD_BwE

Thanks in advance.

£15 for a bulb? I'm sure you can do better.

https://www.partsforvolvosonline.com...c7e076ff4c2cd1

And you can almost certainly do better than that too

https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-part...arent/1048577/

however the postage may be prohibitive.

The part number is 30710781 I'd try your local Volvo dealer. It's quite likely they'll be competitive.

One.

If you haven't done the job already, do read up on how to get the centre console out (or at least lifted up enough to get at the bulb). Or better still watch the relevant RobertDIY u-tube video, he's a treasure that man.

Good advice from Luxobarge. Once you know how to do it, it's not a difficult job.

On the 850 I think there are two in the centre console, one for the gear selector and another one which illuminates the rear ashtray and storage area under the armrest. It think the front ashtray uses the same bulb too.

We're getting cheaper - https://www.rendcarparts.nl/volvo/on...81/RD30710781A - but they are in the Netherlands so not sure if taxes apply to you guys.

Give your local Volvo dealer a call, they may well still have them

Thanks all. You were all right. The dealership was the cheapest at £10/bulb.

My next challenge is:

- brighter daytime running bulbs. Any tips?
- new bulb for the electric window switches. The tinternet says you have to buy a whole new switch unit?
- also my side wing mirror toggles stop working now and then. Maybe a need toggle unit too?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Clark, how did you get on changing the auto gear selector bulb? I'm about to tackle that job and would be keen to hear your experience. Also, did you get a bulb for the window switches? Is it the same one?
