Default ac /heater not working

First let me say that this is a GREAT forum.

I have a 2001 S40. One day when I got in my car the ac / heater fan would not come on. in addtion , the ac on and off light is completely dead as well as the rear defrost light and the air recirculation light - no amber or green lights at all.

I checked the ecc / blower fuse under the steering wheel and checked the fuses under the bonnet with no success. I have been dirving the car but its getting cold in Virginia and now my wife will not drive the car because there is no heat. Any advise is truly appreciated.

thanks

I recall seeing similar problems raised here with a solution - the search function will probably find them. Not had the problem with mine.... yet.

sounds like a dead heater control electronic module, fuses for it, knackered, bad connection, bad ground or something like that to mess up all of these things at the same time.

Check fuse 8 (10A) in engine compartment & fuse 1 (25A) in passenger compartment.

I've remembered what I was thinking of - the "wiring under the radiator" fault...

Default second try

Based on all the sugestions I have tried the following.

I roatated the fuses around checking fuse 8 (10A) in engine compartment & fuse 1 (25A) in passenger compartment.

I removed the fan, fan directional, and the temp knobs and the face plate on the center console to check to see if there is anything obvious with no avail

I then removed the skirt under the front of car to get better access to insepct under the radiator. everything looks OK. I grabbed the bundle of wries under the raidiator and jiggles it around and looked to see if its brttle to the touch and it seened normal. There is a lot of objects under there and I am a little hesistant to move forward with any further dismanteling without touching base with the forum and a little more research.

Very baffling. .............
