if it was me, I'd proably just glue it on so it looks right (still a deterrant) then just go to the wiring above inside the trim, bare the wires within, and cross them over and solder
that's all it does anyway, just connects the two together and breaks the connection if the glass is smashed you may still find the fault is there because the siren modules are just notorious but this issue still would need sorting either way and is by far the cheapest / easiest thing to try first Last edited by stuart bowes; Feb 9th, 2022 at 12:18. |

I had an anti skid service message for a while on my xc90, turned out to be the brake balance sensors, used Vida to check their readings and it was quickly clear one was way out of wack. Used a part from eBay breaker, did the swap in about 15 mins and everything was fine after that.
Well worth finding someone with a dice cable and Vida to check it out, well tell you so much more that the icarsoft unit. |

The icarsoft i906 is pretty basic. I use the V3.0, and VIDA tells me little that the 3.0 can't, including all systems codes, comms status, voltages, counters, you name it, so as a diagnostic tool the advantage VIDA has is minor.
It's configuring new components and adaptions where VIDA really scores, although the V3.0 can do that too but just not as comprehensively,

that and the parts catalouge, workshop fitting and removal instructions, torque settings, etc of course
to be honest though a handheld device would score major plus points if it works simply by not having to have a laptop which is a bit of a nuisance and runs low on battery just when you're getting to the info you need |

Anti-skid sys Steering angle sensor sourcing suggestion reqd
My 2010 C70 with 10500 miles display a dash message "ANTI-SKID system service required". To fix this issue, a specialist garage diagnosed that the Steering angle sensor requires replacing.
A new SAS (steering angle sensor) Volvo part no. 31264802 is required. This requires removing the steering wheel central cover, then the steering column upper & lower trim to replacing the Steering angle sensor followed by calibration after assembly. Looking to source this part cheaper than OEM >£450 !! Any suggestions appreciated, thanks. |

& whether if he has the Vida to re-calibrate. Yes, main dealer quoted part cost of £477.00 incl VAT is exorbitant & I have no estimate for the mechanic work??!! Thank you for your suggestion. |

I've had this steering angle sensor fault for some years on our V70 and I decided it isn't worth this sort of money to fix as it's not an MOT fail being only a service message.
